Meet and depart at 7:30 a.m. from Agios Vissarion (Larissa).
Our first stop is the Holy Monastery of Saint Ephraim of Syros, located in Kontariotissa, Pieria, at the foot of Mount Olympus. It is an impressive convent featuring stunning Byzantine architecture and breathtaking views. We will have time to pray, feel the spiritual peace of the place, and admire the monastery’s well-tended gardens, which will be in full bloom on such a day.
Next, we set off for the “earthly paradise” of Almopia, the renowned Pozar Hot Springs. At the foot of Mount Kaimaktsalan, where the cold river flows alongside the hot springs, we’ll have the chance to “welcome May” in the most unique way. At the Baths, we’ll have free time to:
- Thermal bath: A unique rejuvenating experience in the outdoor natural pools (with a water temperature of 37°C) next to the river or in the indoor pools.
- Stroll & Relax: A walk through the plane tree forest and the gorge to enjoy the lush May Day foliage.
- May Day Lunch: We’ll enjoy our lunch at one of the area’s traditional taverns, sampling local Macedonian dishes surrounded by nature.
In the early afternoon, recharged by the energy of the thermal waters, we set off for the lush “city of waters,” Edessa. At the famous Waterfall Park, we’ll admire the imposing “Karanos” waterfall, which plunges 70 meters down. We’ll have time to walk beneath its waters, take wonderful souvenir photos, explore the picturesque Varosi neighborhood, and enjoy our afternoon coffee.
Late in the afternoon, we head back. We arrive in Larissa in the evening.
